AN OUTDOOR PROGRAM THAT BUILDS CONFIDENCE AND LEADERSHIP

Nature is the perfect playground for every child but it can be intimidating, especially for those whose previous access to the outdoors has been limited. Intentionally designed to build confidence, one step at a time, North Country School’s outdoor program is a perfect fit both for children who are just discovering the natural world, as well as for students who arrive with outdoor experience.

We have always used our stunning Adirondack Mountain setting as a living laboratory where children can seek inspiration and knowledge while learning real-world skills and respect for wild places. Exploration here comes in many forms, from outdoor science labs to climbing on our campus rock face. These experiences will be deepened through the expertise of both on-campus faculty and regional outdoors educators, who will deliver a program that bolsters traits best developed by spending time outside. As students hike, ski, climb, paddle, and backpack through the wilderness, they will experience personal growth, develop resilience, and improve skills in effective problem solving and peer-to-peer communication while cultivating a deeper sense of self.
