Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion
Originally from Southern California, Yunga found North Country School through the National Association of Independent Schools (NAIS). She has 18 years of experience in the educational field as a musical theater teacher and department head, as well as leading Diversity, Equity and Inclusion work in independent schools. She received her Bachelor of Science in Sociology from Brigham Young University, Masters of Arts in Education: Instruction and Curriculum from University of Phoenix, and a Diversity Equity and Inclusion Leadership Certificate through Cornell University.
As a diversity leader, she has led a team of over 50 educators responsible for DEI curriculum planning, professional development, and community events. Her professional experience over the years has taught her the benefits of healthy communication, collaboration, and empathy. Yunga works to include all constituents and ensure that everyone has a voice at North Country School. Her leadership philosophy is to guarantee that team members practice DEI work and lead by example, rather than through hierarchy.
She comes from a large family whom she loves singing professionally with, and is a mother to a daughter attending Howard University. In her spare time, she loves to cook, take walks, and share meaningful conversations with friends.
