Claire Carson

Grade 8 U.S History & Outdoor Leadership Teacher, Outdoor Program Coordinator, and Support Houseparent

Claire grew up in the Finger Lakes Region of Upstate New York and often spent family vacations camping in the Adirondacks. She earned her bachelor’s degree in peace and conflict studies and Latin American studies from Colgate University. At Colgate, Claire led the ski and snowboard club and the hiking club, and she worked as a peer advisor in the Off-Campus Study office after studying in Italy, Bolivia, and South Africa. In 2020, she moved to the Adirondacks to complete a fellowship with a local education nonprofit. In this position, she worked with 3rd-through-9th graders on college and career readiness, academics, civic engagement, and financial education. Claire joined the NCS/Treetops community as a farmer in summer 2021 and joined the NCS faculty in fall 2021. In her free time, she enjoys skiing, hiking, climbing, reading, live music, and spending time with friends and family.
